I feel like having the perfect prayer routine is essential to help keep the fire you having for Jesus burning. And the best part is that it's yours! Your routine shouldn't make you stress out or make you frustrated, that's the exact opposite! It should make you feel relaxed and full of the Holy Spirit! They are hard to make at all and they should be designed around what you enjoy. If your dedicated to Mary maybe its praying a rosary when you wake up and a Divine Mercy chaplet before bed. Or maybe you take a run in the morning and use that time to pray and observe all the amazing things God has created. What ever it is for you it should be an enjoyable time where you can learn more about the Lord and yourself. Now maybe your asking, Ashlyn, how do I make a prayer routine or how can I make mine more enjoyable? Don't worry I got you covered!
Right now think about your current prayer routine, if you don't have one think about what you might want to do in yours. My daily prayer routine consist of daily devotions (here), reading from the Bible, my Green Scapular intentions book (comment below for more info!), reading prayers from prayer cards, and blessing myself with Holy Water. I also do an occasional Rosary and read about my faith, do some religious pinning, work on blog posts and etc. When you pick out what you want to do keep in mind what time of day your most busy (not that you should plan your prayer around your day, actually you should plan your day around your prayer, but sometimes with school that's hard) and what you enjoy doing (don't plan on reading a chapter of the Bible each day from cover to cover if your not going to enjoy it or get anything out of it, it's very hard to cold turkey read the Bible).
If your still stuck on what to do here are my suggestions: some sort of devotion (here is a three minute retreat), read the days gospel, say one decade or a whole rosary, say your favorite prayer each night (if it's not on a prayer card make it one!), and saying your own petitions.
What ever you end up using don't be upset if it fails the first time, if it does change something to make it work! Good luck and feel free to ask me any questions, comments, or concerns!
